It’s World Sleep Day and a little less than 6 months to go until my Guinness World Record attempt to smash the record for the longest marathon lecture! Feeling way behind on prep for the slides but slow and steady will win the day.
Lots of other strands to pull together but I have a fab event manager in Georgina and we are working on, among other things; lining up gazillions of volunteers and witnesses, sponsorship, filming, photographic documentation of the event, educational outreach, venue logistics, refreshments, a possible exhibition and an amazing bit of science research into sleep deprivation and the impact on my cognitive abilities during the event! Jeepers when I type it all out it seems a massive amount of work still to be done!
I’ve been doing lots of reading to understand the possible impact on me during the event too and I’m learning so much about sleep. Did you know for example that REM sleep (that’s deep sleep when you dream) is important for our emotional well being. If you are sleep deprived, it’s likely that REM sleep will be less plentiful and poorer quality so a good night sleep is essential to feel good!
Sweet dreams everyone – MT
